This recipe for potato dumplings is made with cooked mashed potatoes and fried onion. Filled potato dumplings recipe – the way for your tasty dinner for real gourmet!
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 1 cup kefir
- 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
For filling:
- 1 pound potatoes
- 2 onion (chopped)
- 5 tablespoon vegetable oil
- herbs, spices to taste
Method
Pour kefir into the deep bowl, beat the egg, add the vegetable oil, salt, and soda, mix. Gradually adding flour, knead the dough. The dough should be elastic and not sticky. Set aside about 30 minutes.
Cook the potato, and mash it. Fry the onion into the oil about 4-5 minutes until golden.
Add the 3/4 of onion into potato puree. Add the spices and herbs.
Divide the dough in half, then roll out one half about 3 mm thick and cut into 3 inch rounds using cutter or cup.
Place 1 teaspoon of potato puree into the center of each round. Fold over each circle, and press together with a fork to seal. Repeat for all rounds.
Repeat for remaining half of dough.
Boil the water, add the salt and cook the dumplings about 4 minutes after dumplings float to the top.
Serve hot, sprinkle with fried onion.
