This gingerbread cookies recipe is great! It’s delicious cookies creates a holiday mood in your home!
Ingredients
For cookies:
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 tablespoons orange zest
2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
For icing:
4 egg whites
4 cups sifted confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon lemon extract
Method
Mix the spices, baking soda and salt. Sift the flour and stir with spices.
Mix the butter and sugar using a mixer, add the egg and whip. Add the orange zest and corn syrup.
Add flour mixture in whipped mass and mix well. Chill dough for 2 hours.
Grease a baking surface oil.
On floured surface, roll the dough into ¼ inch thick layer. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters. Put the cookies on a baking surface for a short distance from each other, and bake for about 10 minutes in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven.
In a clean dry bowl, beat whites, gradually adding and lemon extract. Beat with a mixer at maximum speed until the mixture thickens.
Chilled cookie decorate various patterns icing. Use a pastry bag (or squeeze bottles) to squeeze trickle icing.
